What is Health Coaching?
“A health coach is a wellness authority and supportive mentor. Health coaches educate and support clients to define and achieve their health and wellness goals through lifestyle and behaviour adjustments. What is Wellness Coaching?
“Wellness coaching combines theory from Coaching Psychology, Behaviour Change and Positive Psychology to help clients overcome resistance to change. Making a shift from a “do what I say” stance to one of supporting a client in working out what they want, why they want it and what’s stopping them, resulting in greater motivation, self-worth and outcomes from the client.” Wellness Coaching Australia
How do they differ?
I became a qualified wellness coaching in the second half of 2014, and whilst you could argue that health and wellness coaching are similar, I find them distinctively different, and therefore will work on achievement of health related goals in a different way.
Wellness coaching is a very structured goal orientated approach, using positive psychology, behavioural change and coaching psychology to help clients overcome any resistance to change.
Health coaching is a much more supportive, mentoring and coaching environment allowing you to come to an understand behaviour adjustments required to achieve your health goals. Health coaches help define what it is you would like to achieve in regards to your health and wellbeing and support and educate you to achieve those goals
What is life coaching, and is it different to health and wellness coaching?
Life coaching is seen to be quite different from health and wellness coaching as it focuses mainly on looking toward your future instead of looking at the now, or the past, that under-pin your ability for long term success. Life coaches will work towards uncovering what is holding you back from achieving the vision you have for yourself in all areas of your life, and assist you in taking action steps to achieve your vision by supporting you and making you accountable.
What can health and wellness coaching assist me with?
Both health and wellness coaching will support you in achievement of any of your health and wellness goals, once they have been defined.

What is eating psychology coaching?
Eating psychology is broken down into two key areas;
Mind Body Nutrition
Mind body nutrition, at its core, “explores how thoughts, feelings and beliefs impact our nutritional metabolism and health. It focuses on connections between brain, body, digestion and behaviour. It also brings to light how social, emotional, cultural and spiritual dimensions can scientifically influence how we digest and assimilate a meal and how we calorie burn”
Dynamic Eating Psychology
Dynamic eating psychology is the premise that “what we believe about food and body powerfully influences our behaviours, our health and our happiness. It affirms that we are all whole and complete, and yet our relationships with food, body and health has important and powerful lessons to teach us if we chose to listen. It recognises that our experience with food is intimately connected to other primary areas of our lives, such as relationship, family, career sexuality and our search for meaning and fulfilment.”

Wouldn’t my digestive issues be healed through health coaching?
They will be eased through dietary changes to lower foods that may aggravate the digestive system, but it is unlikely for 100% improvement through health coaching alone. Most digestive issues stem from “un-digested” life experiences that need to be worked through to see a real improvement in digestive upset.
Why is eating psychology coaching more expensive than health and wellness coaching?
Health and wellness coaching working alongside of you to improve specific areas of your health and wellbeing, such as weight loss, improved energy or sleep, quitting smoking, increase in fruits and vegetables, healthy fats, etc.
Whereas eating psychology coaching, looks deeper into what is affecting improving your relationship with food, loving your body, uncovering the reasons as to why; no matter what medical or alternate treatments you have tried, you are still are bloated, constipated, lacking energy or constant fatigue, have food intolerances, can’t drop the weight, are over-eating or binge eating, are over-exercising and so much more. It is a much deeper look into the why and how of your relationship with food and body.
It is much more involved and deeper work than the health and wellness coaching. The results generally take much more commitment for the client and coach to achieve the desired result.
How long would I need to work with you with the eating psychology coaching?
Eating psychology coaching is powerful, life transforming work. Depending how deep the issue is, and how often the client is having sessions, you could see an eating psychology coach for as short as a month, or for six months, to years.
Once again, depends on how deep the issues are the willingness of the client to do the work required to get the desired result.
